Health News and Commentary
Cloning Experiment Shows That Cancer Is Reversible
A recently conducted experiment involving mouse embryos revealed that “the body itself has the ability to reverse cancer,” according to the researchers who conducted the study. In the study, mouse embryos were cloned from melanoma skin cancer cells and then harvested as stem cells that were transplanted into healthy mouse embryos that were only a few days old. The embryos then grew to become healthy adult mice, completely f/r/e/e of any signs of cancer. The research was published in the scientific journal Genes and Development.

[Comment: Nice to see conventional scientists finally acknowledging a fact that holistic practitioners have known for years. The body itself can reverse any condition, not just cancer, so long as it is supplied with all that it requires in order to perform its innate, God-given abilities. Meeting those needs is at the heart of a truly holistic medical approach that takes into account the entire person, body, mind, and spirit.]
Internal Documents ShowManufacturer of Paxil Knew Its Drug Predisposed Children and Teens to Commit Suicide and Violent Acts
A recent review of internal documents from GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), manufacturer of the popular antidepressant drug Paxil, proves that the company was aware that the drug can predispose children and teenagers to suicide and violent behavior, as well as hallucinations, as a result of its own clinical trials. NY State Attorney General Eliot Spitzer, among other critics of the company, has accused GSK of fraud for withholding the findings during the time the Food and Drug Administration was considering Paxil for use among children and teens. For the most part, GSK still refuses to release most of their internal documents related to this issue. Meanwhile, the FDA n/o/w admits that at least 110 American children committed suicide in the last ten years as a result of using Paxil and other antidepressants, and is considering whether to issue “stronger warnings or advise against them.”
According to the NY Post, which reported this story, “Earlier this year, a scientist in the FDA's own Office of Drug Safety, Dr. Andrew Mosholder, found that kids on antidepressants became suicidal twice as often as kids on sugar pills. But FDA brass reacted coolly to his bombshell opinion. The agency forbade Dr. Mosholder to present his findings at a hearing in February or to discuss them, officials acknowledged. Mosholder told Se/nate investigators he was pressured to change his recommendation, but refused.”

[Comment: The above story is simply more evidence of the collusion between the FDA and Big Pharma, and more reason not to trust the pronouncements from either.]

Rebounding for Health
Is it possible to bounce your way to health? I’d certainly say so, and many health experts agree. All that is required is regular time devoted to bouncing on a mini-trampoline, also known as a rebounder. Since I added rebounding to my exercise regimen (it’s in fact the centerpiece of what I do), my energy levels have noticeably increased, as has my overall sense of well-being. I’ve also improved my muscle tone and even trimmed more than an inch from my already slim waistline (with the help of the 150 crunches I also do each day), and gained a definite increase in my overall aerobic capacity. All from simply bouncing up and down for 20 minutes each morning while listening to my favorite music. Truly this is the “lazy person’s way to exercise,” which suits me perfectly.
How and Why Rebounding Works
The primary reason that rebounding is such an effective type of exercise that provides many health benefits is a combination of gravity and weightlessness. As you begin to rebound, gravity exerts itself, pulling you downward, but as you touch down on the trampoline pad, you are immediately sprung upward into a momentary state of weightlessness. Researchers estimate that during each downward-upward-downward motion between 2-4 G-forces are exerted on your body. The end result of this is that your body reacts as if it’s carrying a heavy wei/ght. But no strain is involved since the effect is so fleeting. Nonetheless, the overall effect starts a cascade of physical benefits.
According to NASA scientists who have studied the physiological effects of regular rebounding exercise, the temporary exertion of G forces caused during the exercise stimulates the body’s lymphatic system while optimizing both blood circulation and the ability of your body’s soft tissues and muscles to receive and utilize oxygen.
The effects on the lymphatic system are particularly impressive. The lymphatic system acts as the body’s filtration system, and is responsible for ridding the body of toxins, dead cells and other cell/ular debris, heavy metals, and pathogens such as bacteria, fungi, and viruses. In this capacity, the lymphatic system plays a key role in immunity. All too often, however, the lymph system becomes congested and clogged, causing a toxic buildup of the above substances that can ultimately lead to disease, many of which are quite serious. Further compounding the likelihood of this happening is the fact that, unlike the body’s circulatory system, for which the heart acts like a pump of the blood, the lymphatic system has no such pump to ensure proper lymph flow and thus needs to be stimulated by exercise. Research has shown that rebounding is without question the most effective means of achieving this stimulation, which in turn accelerates the body’s ability to eliminate toxins, pathogens, and waste products. The ultimate benefit of this happening is improved immunity.
Other Benefits of Rebounding
Researchers have identified as many as 30 health benefits provided by regular rebound exercise. They include: improved energy, strengthening of the heart muscle and overall cardiovascular system, improved circulation, reduced blood pressure, reduced cholesterol, increased production of red blood cells, improved oxygenation of cells and tissues, increased respiration, improved metabolism, improved muscle strength and muscle tone, improved coordination, improved mental function, improved digestion and elimination, and reduced body fat.
Getting Started
Rebounding is easy to incorporate into your daily lifestyle, and the benefits it provides can be achieved in as little as five minutes a day. All you need is regular access to a mini-trampoline, which typically range in price from $99-$300, and are often available at sporting goods stores. (They can also be ordered online. Search the term “rebounding exercise” on Google.) When selecting a rebounder, be sure that it is sturdy (good models will support a 300-pound person) and stands low enough so that you will not hit your head on the ceiling as you bounce (units that stand 10 inc/hes off the ground are a good choice). Also be sure that the trampoline pad is supported by sturdy springs that are not connected directly to the frame. This will ensure a better and gentler bouncing action.
Once you’ve acquired a rebounder, the next step is simply to use it. Because of how gentle rebounding is, it can be safely engaged in by anyone, regardless of age or condition (benefits can even be achieved by bouncing while sitting on the edge of the rebounder). Some models also come with a support bar that you can hold onto as you bounce. Once you’re on it, just start bouncing. Initially, you may want to only do so for a few minutes, but as you get used to it, try to aim for at least 5 to 10 minutes per day. After a few weeks, I think you’ll find rebounding to be one of the most fun and effective forms of exercise you’ll ever do.
Self-Care Tips for Preventing and Managing Mononucleosis
Mononucleosis is an acute infectious, viral disease caused usually by the Epstein-Barr virus and sometimes by the cytomegalovirus. Both of these viruses belong to the herpes group. The disease is often referred to as “mono,” “sleeping sickness,” or the “kissing sickness,” since it is very contagious and may be transmitted by kissing, and the cardinal symptom is severe tiredness. Mono affects the lymph tissue, the respiratory system, and sometimes other organs such as the liver, spleen, and, rarely, the heart and kidneys. It presents with an increase of white abnormal blood cells and development of persistent antibodies to the Epstein-Barr virus and short-lived antibodies to beef, horse, and sheep red blood cells.
Symptoms: Symptoms occur four to seven weeks after exposure with severe incapacitating fatigue, headache, sometimes chills, often shortly followed by a very high fever, sore throat, with enlarge/ment of different lymph nodes, especially the ones in the neck. It is possible for the symptoms to be varied and confusing, because the mono viruses can affect different organs such as the spleen, liver (sometimes a mild jaundice, yellowing of the skin, occurs for a short period of time), eyelids, and sometimes the heart. Ten percent of individuals develop rashes or sometimes darkened bruise-like areas in the mouth.
Occurrence: Occurs most commonly at the age when the immune system is at its peak functioning (15-17 years old). The disease only occurs in individuals who have ne/ver had these viral antibodies before.
Consider: Mono’s symptoms are very similar to the flu so that a severe flu bout must be ruled out.
Special Notes: Almost all cases improve without drugs within four to six weeks. Antibiotics do nothing for mono unless there is an associated bacterial infection. Ampicillin, an antibiotic, will often make mono worse, may cause a rash, and should be avoided. Avoid aspirin as it may create complications in rare cases. The oral antiviral medication acyclovir is sometimes used in uncomplicated cases, but natural treatments may fair as well in some responsive individuals.
Any treatment in the early stages of this disease must emphasize appropriate bed rest (for at least one month or while fever and fatigue are still present). If there is enlarge/ment of the spleen or liver, the rest may need to be prolonged and strenuous exercise must be avoided until these organs return to normal size.
Many mono patients suffer from ongoing fatigue, depression, and varied symptoms for months to follow, but those on natural treatments seem to avoid this pitfall or recover from these recurrences more quickly.
Self-Care
Diet: Drink plenty of pure water, avoid excessive animal proteins, take amino acid blends or vegetable protein drinks several times per day in between meals or for a snack to help build up the organs involved and maintain better blood sugar balance. Eat four to six smaller meals throughout the day and avoid overeating at each meal, eat as much raw foods as possible with emphasis on a wide variety of sprouts, seeds and nuts, and consume wholesome soups made from a wide variety of vegetables and roots such as potatoes, turnips, yams, and beets. Avoid processed foods, soft drinks, sugar, caffeine, white flour products, and fried foods.
Before retiring, take several bites of some complex carbohydrates (crackers, potatoes, pasta, etc.) along with several bites of a protein (nut butter, yogurt, cheese, seeds, etc.) along with the last B complex for the day, some vitamin C, and a large glass of pure water or warm her/bal tea.
Nutritional Therapy: Vitamin C to bowel tolerance. Free-form amino acids (1/4-1/2 teaspoon ten minutes before meals, three to four times daily). Vitamin A (50,000 IU daily for two months). Vitamin E (400-600 IU daily). Vitamin B complex (low dose, three to four times daily). Acidophilus. Glandular tissue of organs involved (liver, spleen and/or lymph/thymus). Chlorophyll. Multivitamin/mineral supplement.
Herbs: Combine the tinctures of myrrh, echinacea, wormwood, and calendula in equal parts and take 1/2 teaspoon of this mixture four times a day.
Homeopathy: Belladonna, Merc iod., Phytolacca.

Website: http://www.mamagums.com - This website of dental hygienist and Health Plus reader Sheila Wolf is an excellent resource for anyone interested in learning how to heal oral health problems from a natural, holistic standpoint. I highly recommend it. Book: The American Holistic Medical Association Guide to Holistic Health by Larry Trivieri, Jr. Of all the books I’ve written, this is among the ones that I am most proud about. Published in 2001 by John Wiley & Sons, it is the first and only book which the AHMA officially endorsed, and if I do say so myself, provides the best and most complete overviews of the major therapies of holistic medicine, including documented evidence that shows what each therapy is most effective at treating. Given all the nonsense being spouted about by the media these days to attack such therapies, I recommend you find out what the truth it, and this book is an excellent place to start.
Health and Blessings!
